The  single-engine, turboprop Swiss Pilatus PC-12 received FAA approval in the Summer of 1994.

The primary market for PC-12s has been as corporate passenger and cargo transports transports in six-seat executive, nine-seat passenger, combo passenger-cargo and all-cargo transport.  However the is a bright potential future us as a commercial regional passenger transport aircraft in countries which have recently cleared the use of single engine turboprops for such services.

The largest single operator of the PC-12 is The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia with a fleet of nineteen.
