Cessna likens the Skylane to an SUV and for cross-country travel with business associates or family this airplane is ideal. The Skylane comes in two versions - regular or turbocharged. The 230 hp, fuel-injected version weighs 120 pounds less than the costlier 235 hp turbocharged model and therefore can carry a greater load. The turbocharger gives a faster climb and comes with a four-place oxygen system for flights at higher altitudes. While the turbocharged version gets its best mileage up high, the 230 hp has a greater range below 12,000 feet. The non-turbo airplane can go six hours in normal cruise at 6,000 feet and is very popular for cross country flying.
