The Cessna C-172M Skyhawk is one of the most popular of the Cessna planes and many a pilot has owned one of these sleek aircraft over the years. 2,226 Skyhawks were built in 1975 - the single largest production run of the Cessna 172 Skyhawk since the 1961 Cessna 172B Skyhawk was produced (the first model to bear the designation Skyhawk). The 1975 Cessna 172M Skyhawks have Serial Numbers from 63459 to 65684.

The military version of the Cessna 172 Skyhawk is the T-41 Mescalero. It is short range, high-winged trainer primarily used for screening pilot candidates.  Unlike the older 145hp T-41A's, T-41C’s have a mammoth 210hp engine. Some describe it as a C-172 on steroids! The T-41D were fully upgraded in 1996 with the latest avionics, paint scheme, constant speed propellers and other mission specified equipment.

In 1993, the US Air Force began replacing the 855 T-41s built with a more advanced, aerobatic aircraft.
