The SH-2F Seasprite is the US Navy's front-line intermediate weight helicopter. Manufactured by Kaman Aerospace, it is operational in two US Navy squadrons and the Navies of Australia, New Zealand and Egypt. The helicopter can be equipped for anti-submarine warfare; anti-surface warfare; over the horizon targeting; airborne mine countermeasures; surveillance; search and rescue;  and covert operations.

The Super Seasprite is variously equipped with forward-looking infrared radar, laser targeting and thermal imaging. Additionally, the helicopter relays acoustic data from sonar buoys back to the host ship for processing. In the Egyptian Navy it is equipped with active dipping sonar and digital hover coupler.

The US Navy ASW Super Seasprite is equipped with a towed Magnetic Anomaly Detection system and the Kaman Magic Lantern airborne laser mine detection system. The Magic Lantern pod uses a blue-green laser and CCD cameras to sweep the ocean from the surface to below the keel depth of warships to detect and classify mines.
